Youth become homeless for a number of reasons. Many leave home after suffering years of severe physical or sexual abuse, strained familial relationships, and/or parental neglect. Others were forced out of the home by a parent or guardian. Others might have been released from juvenile detention centers or have aged out of foster care. Regardless of the reason, homeless and runaway youth face a gauntlet of dangers on the street. Covenant House Texas offers a safe, stable environment to help at-risk youth grow mentally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally.
